Washington was the 42nd state in the USA; it became a state on November 11, 1889. It is our only state that is named after a president. About 60% of the states residents live in the Seattle metropolitan area along the Puget Sound. Mount Rainier is located southeast of Seattle and is considered to be one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
