North Carolina was the 12th state in the USA; it became a state on November 21, 1789. Two American brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright built the world’s first successful airplane in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina 1903. The largest city, Charlotte is home to the second largest banking center in the United States next to New York.
