New Mexico was the 47th state in the USA; it became a state on January 6, 1912. Mainly populated by Hispanics and Native Americans, New Mexico’s flag represents both cultures. Dating back to the 11th-13th century is the Aztec Ruins National Monument, which is located in northwestern New Mexico they were built by the Anasazi.
