Kansas was the 34th state in the USA; it became a state on January 29, 1861. It’s known as one of the nations most productive farming states, producing very high yields of sorghum, wheat and sunflowers. It’s also the nations leading helium producer. A few points of interest include Dwight Eisenhower’s boyhood home and the military post, Fort Leavenworth.
