Florida was the 27th state in the USA; it was admitted on March 3, 1845. Most of the state is set on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. At approximately 1,350 miles, it has the longest coastline in the US. Florida’s Everglades’ national park is one of the most famous in the world and home to animals such as alligators and manatees.
