The Johnson Space Center was established in 1961 and renamed in honor after the late president Lyndon B. Johnson in 1973. The Center is home to the NASA astronaut corps and has been responsible for over three decades of schooling space travelers from the United States. On July 20, 1969, the world observed the Apollo 11 spaceflight and Neil Armstrong’s report from the moon, “Houston, the Eagle has landed”. A little time after Armstrong released the ladder of the Lunar Module “Eagle” and took his first steps onto the moons surface announcing, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”.
