"The Natural State"

Arkansas was the 25th state in the USA; it became a state on June 15, 1836. The name is an Algonquian name of the Quapaw Indians. The capital is Little Rock, which is located near the center of the state. Little Rock was a well-known river crossing for the early citizens and its rocks that lined the bank were used as a landmark, thus giving the name “Little Rock”.
