Arizona was the 48th state in the USA; it became a state on February 14, 1912. It is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. The canyon was carved by the Colorado River and has depths of over 6,000 feet. It is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. Arizona is known for one of the defining plants of the Sonoran Desert the Saguaro cactus, Arizona cactus.
